Applied for the card after an online preapproval and received the common under review message. After 3 business days received the approval via the automated phone line but no credit limit was given. Received the card after 7 days and got the 17.24% APR. However when I created my account I noticed that the limit was a whopping $500. I literally laughed out loud. My TU score is low 800s, utilization 2% and income is > $250k. I have multiple cards in the $25-$50K range and no card limit under $10k other than a Chase Freedom which I keep at $4500 intentionally. So in no way could I understand the pathetic limit and immediately called them. Despite what I have told others to do in similar situations, I fully intended to close the card right away with that limit because I would have had zero use for it. Explained all of this to the CSR (very nice and empathetic lady) who asked what limit I wanted and I told her $10k. Checked my account the following morning and saw that the limit was $10k. Guess I should have asked for much more. The buggers did do an additional HP though which irritates me quite a bit.
While led I will use the card for some 5% categories my main intent in getting the card was to establish an account with US Bank in order to get the Altitude Reserve down the road. There are no branches in DC area so I couldn’t just open a checking account with them. Hopefully they won’t be so conservative when I do apply for that card.
Congrats on the approval.. The additional HP was unnecessary. Suprised they hit you with that :/.
Congrats Irish! Lol, I was out in Ohio on business and thought about opening an account while I was out there and I thought better of myself.....I need another credit card like a hole in my head. Sticking to MR, AA, UR and SPG, 4 programs are enough, I surrender.
Good move getting the card for your achievable card that has some lift to it.
Congrats on the new card even if you had issues getting it with a good SL. Stories like these always make me second guess getting this card despite the mailers.
Congrats on your recon. Its amazing they make you jump thru hoops, as several posters can attest. Nice to hear your improved limit, though. Mine is still at 7500, as I pc'd from a different card. Waiting for an auto cli, hopefully. They should go big on the Alt Reserve, when you get to it.
Grats on the card. This bank is weird with that kind of usage reporting and Fico you should have got higher limit but it looks like their computers may not like all the available credit.
