Pulled the gun and applied for the Venmo Credit Card. At the conclusion of my application Venmo asked for me to upload two forms of identification to verify my identity.
Is this a good or a bad sign? I have no idea
Some lenders may require additional verification before proceeding to the next processing steps. A variety of lenders such as Barclays, Citi, GS/Apple, Chase + a plethora of CUs do this already. This doesn't necessarily guarantee an approval or an outright denial, this is just a step to verify your identity. I would say it's a good sign in the sense that at least they're making sure you are who you are.
I agree with @FinStar.
I actually think this is a good thing in regards to security and protecting consumers against ID theft. As for is it a good or bag sign for your approval, neither. It's just them verifying you are who you say you are. I do remember needing to upload my DL for the Apple Card.
Pulled the switch last night and applied for Venmo Credit Card.....
Venmo asked for two forms of identification to verify my identity (which I quickly submitted)....and this afternoon I received an approval email for $500 SL and a virtual credit card in the Venmo app (actual card arrives in 7-10 business days)!!
Always treated Synchrony right and thus they remembered!! Onward and upward!!
Congratulations on your Venmo approval!
Enjoy your Elmo card
