Very Helpful Chase Recon CSR

I have not App'd for a Chase Card since I burned them for $1200.00 back in 2006 and Providian Credit Card which I burned for $6500.00 and shows internally in Chase's system (both are off my Credit Report).

Just got off the phone with a friendly, easy going Chase recon gentleman, who looked me up internally (didn't run my credit) and said those CO's were very old, and said if I were to apply for a card, he would do everything in his power to approve me. I told him my FICO scores EX 658 (AMEX pull) EQ 743(Discover IT pull) TU 785 (Barclay pull). He also said that I already have a Chase Checking Account set up which is good. He also said my $45.00 parking ticket collection on EX was so small that it would not stop me from getting a Chase Card.....It almost sounded like he would of approved right then and there if I applied with him.....

My questions to all of you are:

1. Should I go for a Chase Card whether it's a Freedom or CS or CSP and close my $600.00 Wells Fargo secured card I set up back in November 2013 and get my deposit back if I'm approved for a Chase Card (I'm worried that Wells Fargo won't graduated me after a year because of all the complaints I read here about WF not graduating people after a year)

2. Should I apply for a Chase card and keep the Wells Fargo secured card and have faith in Wells Fargo

3. Should I just stay in the garden?

Any kind, considerate, expert advice(best for my FICO scores & credit profile) is welcome.

Re: Very Helpful Chase Recon CSR

If interested in the Chase card I would apply. But would also keep the WF card as it isn't hurting anything remaining open. Good luck!

If anyone needs me I will be In The Garden. Goal Score: 760 for all in 2015.

I would've tried to apply with him then and there.  Anecdotally, it seems Chase recons are highly dependent on how friendly your analyst is.  I would say it wouldn't hurt to try, but I think you'll have a tough sell with that $6,500 CO.  If you get approved and WF doesn't graduate you, I vote for shutting it down.

I would hang onto the Wells Fargo and try for the Chase. Do you have the name of the rep you talked to so you can contact him again? Either way, give them a call. Best of luck and keep us posted!

Re: Very Helpful Chase Recon CSR

I didn't know that Chase took in the Providian accounts. I hope that doesn't mean I'll be blacklisted. I had a providian account that went bad years ago.

Good luck to you, OP! I probably would have apped right there while he was on the phone lol. I hope you can get him back!

That's what I here...I asked if he had an extension so I could call back and ask for him....he said I could not call and ask for him, but he said he could call me back If I needed time to think about it. We set up a time on Monday, and he will call me back to see if I wanted to go for it. That way I could pop on here and ask for advice from you guys!!

I didn't app yet...I call the recon line ahead of time to see what an analyst would say about my past derogs with Chase....that way I could kind of see what my chances would be from a Chase recon specialist in getting back with Chase (sounded to me he would have done it..but they are there this weekend...

Yeah I thought $6500 would be a tough sell, but he said "It was from a different bank" and said it with a conviction as if he and Chase can easily overlook that.

Re: Very Helpful Chase Recon CSR

Definately let us know if you're successfull. If they can overlook a C/O of $6500, surely they can overlook my burning them in BK for $714 in '09. I'm salivating over the IHG card, and maybe United. Smiley Happy
