I decided to apply for the Wells Fargo Platinum Visa card on December 1st.
I received a message that they needed to verify additional information and I would receive a response or card in the mail in 5-7 days (standard pending message from what I've read after applying). Monday December 3rd Wells Fargo called and left a message for me to call them while I was at work (suprisingly enough, they were closed when I got home).
Tried calling Tuesday 12/4 and was told I had to be home to receive a code from them to verify I was me.
So I go home, go through the verification process and they tell me they will send it to the underwriters and I'd have an answer in 24 hours or less.
24 hours pass, I call to see what's going on with the account and it say's "Denied, unable to verify identity you'll receive written notification in 7-10 days" then it connects me to a CSR automatically (strange?). Again I verify myself. APPROVED $3,000!! if only she'd have been able to tell me if I qualified for the 0% APR for 18 months (Edit: 0% for 18 months purchase & BT was offered to me) or what my APR is/was.

I'm contemplating applying as well. Recevied a pre-qual note via e-mail and USPS mail. I've been a checking acct customer for just over a year.
Chief, I don’t believe you have to qualify for the no interest for 18 months, it’s a feature of the card.

You are probably correct stonedog. When I received my card it said 0% apr for 18 months for purchases and balance transfers. Afterwards the APR will be 18.49%.
The paperwork that came with the card also stated that you can only get one credit product every six months, and 0% apr bt cards every 15 months. It's nice they spell it out for their customers so we aren't wasting HP's for no benefit.
