Agreed. A CSR (the last time I requested) even told me to "aim high". He said if it was too high then WF would counter, but I'd never get it unless I asked.

Cool! I have personal issues with WF because of the horrible time I had with them when they took over Norwest Bank and screwed up my (then) perfect credit. But maybe it's something to look at in the future.
