Why do I feel that whipping out the Discover More on the first date wouldn't be very impressive?   Smiley Indifferent

I have to say I have never paid attention to what card a guy pulled out to pay for a first date...Hmmm..maybe I could've weeded out bad prospects sooner had I paid attention to "what's in their wallet". Smiley Surprised

Carrying a lot of cash or a debit card in your wallet presents a financial risk. If your wallet gets stolen, you lose all the cash and potential some money from your checking account if somebody uses the debit card to make online purchases. On top of that, money bills are unsanitary.

this is not true! about debit cards

i work for a bank.

if you honestly can say it was not you. you can file a claim & afadavit. they will do an investigation and most of the time reimburse you the money. they do file a police report and if they find who ever did it whether you or a "crook" they can press charges.

Re: 1st date... Whip out the Discover?

People who just pay with cash would make me wonder if they weren't credit worthy, thinking their finances are a messa

And they might have a ton of debt.  Had a boyfriend who couldn't handle his money and tried to sink me with him. He always used debit/cash.

Re: 1st date... Whip out the Discover?

I have used my Sams Club Discover the last 2 dates I went on and the last time I was at a nightclub. It had a huge discover logo accross the card under the blacklights at the club. I was tipsy enough to get excited about that feature. not to mention the 2% cashback on every purchase. hahah.

I always run into this problem all the time! And people wonder where I go shopping that they only accept VISA and Mastercard. I've decided to switch my spending to my Chase card due to this. Larger limit and more widely accepted. At least I won't be running a balance everywhere.
