2 Cap. One Cards, should I combine ?

Hi. I am wondering what I should do, if I should combine these cards. Both are from Capital One.

Card #1- Cap. One Platinum , opened acct.-01/2014. $100 dollar balance, $1500 Limit

Card #2- Cap. One Quicksilver, opened-04/2015, $300 dollar balance, and now they gave me a cli to $3500

Should I just keep these two cards open, or combine them? I have been rebuilding my credit since 01/2014, and the Cap. One was the first card I started this journey with, started with a $300 credit limit.

Just looking for some advice. Thanks!

I would combine into the QS since that has the 1.5% cash back. However, it won't be eligible for combination until October this year. (Accounts must be 6 months old is part of the requirements)

I can wait a few more months. No biggie, just wondering how my age of accounts would be affected then since I would be combining into the newer card?  Thanks!

Re: 2 Cap. One Cards, should I combine ?

Couple options. What are the APRs on each of the cards (or regular apr after promotional APR)

If they are high and you tend to carry a balance, some may say its hard with capital one to get APR perm reduced. Better to wait and reapply with a preapproval that has a low APR. Then again you are using 3 more inquiries.

I would also think that since these limits are not huge, you would have more CLI potential going between two separate cards. You could get another CLI or two, then combine. Def the one with 1500.

You cant combine them until october, both cards must be 6 months old, at least one with a 0 balance. I see why you are considering though. End up with a 5k QS.

You could take both of those cards and use them for anything and everything instead of debit card. Pay off monthly. If you dont see a CLI in 6 months, then combine. Both have no AF I assume?

Re: 2 Cap. One Cards, should I combine ?

Card #1-Platinum , 22% interest rate, $39 dollar annual fee.

Card #2-QuickSilver, 0% interest, and no fee

It's weird, I have had the platinum since Jan 2014, and my CL is only $1500.  Yet , Card #2 I've had it for 4 months and my limit is $3500 now.

QS is of a higher tier so to speak. In general, the rate of CLIs on it outpaces the rate of CLIs on Platinum cards. Also, what is the APR on your QS after the promo period ends is what jfriend was asking.
