Re: $400 Cash Back after Spending $1K in 90 Days with NFL Card

Was just reading the fine print, and need help translating this:

3. Redemption Options: Cardmembers may redeem Points for a variety of rewards including NFL gift cards, certain NFL merchandise, NFL collectibles, NFL based experiences, and cash back via a statement credit towards any purchase transactions of $25 or more that posted to your account within the last 90 days. Statement credit redemption amount cannot exceed the amount of the qualifying purchase transaction.

So essentially, I spend my 1000, get the 400 back and then I could go on an ordering spree on Amazon for $400 and then I could apply the 400?

This legalese reads like I'd have to apply the statement credit, chunks at a time to cover several purchases. I guess it's no different than an AMEX statement credit in that it happens in intervals of 25, correct?

Exactly. It is a win-win. You can charge whatever you want, and get a statement credit for it. So you don't have to charge NFL gear, you just get a discount (and more points) for charging that gear. You also get double points for Direct TV payments charged to the card. On another forum, people have received follow-up offers from Barclays on the card (when it had a $200 statement credit - last month) to charge $500 a month for Oct-Nov-Dec and get another $ 200 cash back.

People on Fat Wallet are getting one for themselves, and one for their spouse, and using te cashback to pay for Christmas (or whatever). Who can't use an extra $400?

I'm not saying it is a CSP, or Freedom (or any one of a million other rewards cards), but I can say this - I have burned a INQ for a lot less than $400, so I'll take it.

However, I wonder if Barclays will let people switch the team they choose on the card....my Lions looked like crap yesterday.Smiley Tongue

Anyone know if balance transfers would count towards the 1k spend?

It might, but then you might not be able to redeem the bonus since it is supposed to go as a credit toward a "purchase".

According to the Terms and Conditions, a balance transfer counts for the spend, but you will not accrue points for the amount you transfer.  However, there is a balance transfer fee. Apparently, you can to ly do this by doing a transfer online or by phone. Using the BT checks will not counof towards the bonus.

Re: $400 Cash Back after Spending $1K in 90 Days with NFL Card

Pulled the trigger today and got the 10-day message. Going to try backdoor numbers. Anyone have one not listed in the backdoor thread?

EDIT: Approved for the Platinum card for $1,300. Credit Analyst bumped it to $3,500. Customer Service said it still comes with the sign-up bonus, so at least there's that over not getting the Signature card.

Yes, it still shows up under Rewards Program Overview when I log in.

I got instantly approved last Friday with a $5,500 CL. I called on Monday morning for reconsideration and got it bumped up to $6,500 with no HP. Now I just need to spend a $1,000!

I might pull the trigger and override my DGF's executive decision.

I'd be spending $900 on class tuition and just $100 on other stuff I spend anyway, and then it's $400 free.

Too good to pass up.

I'll think about it.
