Or for those with MR cards who would rather switch over to cash back.

Even though it gets rekt by the Sallie Mae, the Blue Cash Preferred is what I plan to replace my PRG with before the latter's annual fee comes up.

i have BCP now its going to get downgraded to Blue cash, if they allow it or BCE but thats purely because i really don't have any other options, since they don't allow pc to ED cards. yes the MR choices, like ED, are better but i thought were just discussing Cashback cards since BCE was brought up :-)

Wait, what the hell. I meant to say (type?) Blue Cash Everyday there. I'm not trading one annual fee for another.

Time to hit the Red Bull.

Anyway, just adding to the point that the BCE still has its place inspite of the competition.

I think Stralem is saying you have an Amex MR card, but want cash back (and presumably want to stick with Amex, after redeeming the MR).  This makes sense to me only for large purchases (outside the bonus categories) where you want the enhanced Amex protections.  (and if they were large and frequent enough, I would use the Blue Cash!)

BCP has its place, beating SM at some spending levels.  BCE doesn't!

Edit: OK, Stralem meant BCE anyway.

Well for me i will downgrade to BCE because of lack of choices probably, it will be my back backup cardi don't know if i would ever use. I could use my amex TE for extended warranty and the such. I am just really hoping they will allow me to PC to Blue cash card.

Yes, I haven't used mine since converting my BCP.   Thought about it for the $10 WholeFoods thing, but haven't bothered.

I think LTL is an little tongue in cheek with regards to BCE. Sarcasm may not always work well on the interwebs :-) The reason is most people don't think bce is really that good , when you compare it to SM for instance, since both are no af cards. SM will beat BCE in almost every way possible. It even compares very very well to BCP, this all for no AF card. So when you are talking for best value BCE is just not that good. The only really redeeming value i suppose is if you want it as an back up for backdating purposes i supppose.

Well, tongue in cheek, but with feeling!   Yes, the BCE is, from a rewards perspective, similar to the card being derided in this thread, just $495 cheaper.  There (nearly always) aren't good reasons to get the BCE, people get it without looking at alternatives.  As mongstradamus says, Sallie Mae is better for this set of rewards, the Everyday card is better if you just need a no AF Amex for backdating or as your first Amex.

Agree on the BCE but on BCP/SM, as usual, YMMV. The Sallie Mae is a great card, but the $250 limit on groceries is kind of tight for a family of 4. And I would rather not have 2 of the same cards. But all this has already been discussed in this forum. Also, Amex was great for me, as they helped me push up my highest CLI very quickly.

Why do people pay for first class airfare for a flight less than 2 hours? Why do people buy cars that get crappy mileage?  Why do people pay $120 for a plain white Kayne West t-shirt?

People do what they do because they can and they want too.  Honestly, if a $495 credit card makes someone feel good about themselves then so be it.  Some people drop more than that on a night on the town - it means nothing to them.  I don't see the fascination of being a hater and ragging on people with a difference of opinion.

If there wasn't a market for the card then it wouldn't be there.... Obviously someone is paying for it.  Whether they want to admit it publically is another story.

Exactly. It all goes back to the age old "to each their own."

Everyone spends their money the way they wish. Hell I have more than $495 in annual fees across my cards. If this was the only AF someone had, maybe they could justify it. I spend that AF a week gambling so I won't say anything about spending that a year for a card that has a nice look and feel. If may even get this once my Centurion is done being paid for.

Btw.....once you fly first class, there is no going back. Smiley Very Happy

Flown first class... Many of times from LA to Honolulu, Newark to Amsterdam. and a few times domestic.  Personally, I wont "pay" for a flight less than two hours first class - to me, it's not worth it.  But then there are people that will only fly first class - to each their own Smiley Wink
