Yeah if I wasn’t about to charge $2500 to help my roommate get custody of her kid, I would be blowing a lot of money on Amazon too.

Not sure I would go that far! Yes, it's an extra 20% back in rewards, but it's only a ~1% drop in effective price (you now pay 94% rather than 95%. Outside of credit cards, I don't think we would be saying "Wow, a 1% off sale!!!!!"

That’s 6% off of discounts that are already 10%+ from normal though. Prime Day sales can be very nice.
