I tried calling the number they give you to check your status but, when you call it asks for your current account number which obviously I don't have, and it won't transfer you to a live agent. If I get turned down for a $200.00 secured card they can kiss my proverbial backside. I'm getting the feeling it will be declined 7 it's disgusting just thinking about something that lame that my own money is being used to secure it & still may not get the card. What a joke !

Use the backdoor service rep number for Cap One on one of the "sticky" threads. It gets you directly auto to an account manager.

Ohh, didn't know you didn't know the number. The sticky thread I referenced is on the front page of the "Credit Card" board is titled "back door numbers" and is updated monthly. Use this to go directly to a rep who will answer..... 800-625-7866 (Account Specialist), and not the recording.

Re: 7-10 Days Denial-Capital One...

I got an instant approval for $500 from Capital One on line 7 months ago,- score was 596- 610. Few months later I asked Cap One to raise my credit limit, they raised it by $250...so cradit limit bacame $750. I just called the back door number to Cap One, and asked to raise my limit again,- the back door supervising credit specialist politely said,- " because of bad economy, we don't raise credit limits to anyone at this time".  Wow...maybe things are really bad for Cap One? ...and that is the reason good people don't get approved?

My girlfriend without any credti history, had great success with Bank of America,- got secured cr card with down payment of $200 they gave her total $500 limit. One year later they raised limit to $2000.

Both Orchard Bank and HSBC have also implemented policies where they are not currently granting any CLIs.

Wells Fargo is not currently converting any secured cards to unsecured cards.

Do I detect a trend?

Re: 7-10 Days Denial-Capital One...

For OP:

I recently applied for a Capital One No Hassle Card, but the thing is, I first called to talk to a CSR and asked her how likely it was for me to be approve with my score. She told me they have cards to rebuild credit. My Scores were EQ 605 TU 614. She asked me a few questions regarding personal information, income, employment.  She processed it and after a couple of seconds she said "congratulations" i was approve for 300 CL and will be receiving my CC and CC information in 7 to 10 days. She also asked if i wanted to do any balance tranfers just said no.

I would really recommend applying through the application number on their website. Usually online application have these set guide that determine if you will be approved or not. also online application take longer. hope this helps for future applications.

Starting Score: EQ 548 [ Feb 2010 ]
