that is a another thing,he is younger than me and he also just opened an AMEX GOLD PRG a couple of days ago.he does not do business,he spends all his time at home and money on fast food
interesting.
If I were you, I would take the invitation with a grain of salt until you see it with your own eyes.
Also, keep in mind that he may have added an extra 0 somewhere along the lines, or he may have an undisclosed trust fund
unless he has mgaic powers and a new release of photoshop,he was bragging preeeetty hard today when he showed me the picture and video of him opening the envelope.
Getting an invite and getting the card are not the same thing.
One of the misnomers often brandied about the Amex Centurion is that it's a card for big rich spenders only.
While this is true by and large, Amex targets this card for "exceptional" people. More often than not, anyone who is "exceptional" in his chosen profession often has a considerable amount of wealth to go along with it. For instance, if a person who is a great writer, but impoverished could be offered the Black card free of charge. Amex wants and covets the prestige of this literary genius.
Likewise, many rich people aren't exceptional. Take for instance a porno tycoon. Regardless of his wealth, Amex would never offer the Black card such a person because it would tarnish the branding.
@mojobones89 wrote:so as you all know the centerion card is the BIG card that most dream of getting, but little do they know about the the first-year initiation fee is $7500 plus the $2500 yearly fee, followed by $2500 each year thereafter and is applied through invite only, well usually for this card one needs to spend ATLEAST 250,000k a month, funny thing is....my friend who makes 4.4k-10.k(on a good month),who recently bought a house got an invite from amex for the BLACK CARD!This is where it gets crazy though, his initial fee for the first year is 2.5k and 1.5k afterwards..............**bleep**???????how is this possible??
This is incorrect..Its commonly accepted that the yearly annual spend threshold on any AMEX charge to trigger an invite was around the 250k mark....but it is also thought that there haven't been any new invites in quite some time...

DeShawn Stevenson must be doing wonders for the AmEx Centurion image:

Well, he looks pretty exceptional to me!
I remember a story where the rapper Nelly was being sued by AMEX over 40k that went into collections...

unrelated to OP, but I don't think Amex can discriminate like this.
Does this mean Hugh Hefner or anyone who own stocks in Playboy don't qualify? What about farmers? What about General Mills executives or any executives in farming industries? Or what about certain jobs that are more racially segregated?
To OP: The letter is as good as a pre-approval. It's very nice that he got it though. Grats!

+1 I doubt they know what you have stock in...the can only track your spending habits from your prior AMEX products...
