AMEX BT

So I received my AMEX BCE and charged a few items to get it started it. while creating online account I noticed the BT section and I thought "well I'm here might as well BT a few cards", so I did (Cap1 QS, Cap1 QS1 & Citi BB) arpund 1.5K total.

As I was getting to know their website I tried their score simulator and proposed the BT i just did.

it shows that my score would potentially drop by 25 points...Shut The Front Door!.

what's your experience?

does it drop that much?

how long does it take to increase back up?

I figure a smart individual would do the same to save % charges but it seems you get pusnished for doing the samrt thing.

Just venting....i'm done Smiley Frustrated

Re: AMEX BT

Simulators aren't accurate and it's really difficult to judge what will happen. You would also have to provide more info for anyone to even guess

- what's the limit on the new card, what's the balance

- What's the balance and limits on the cards you BT from

- how many card do you have and what's their balances and limits

- what's your average age of accounts

Take what you see on a simulator with a grain of salt.

- what's the limit on the new card, what's the balance = 5K ( new balance after BT 3.5K)

- What's the balance and limits on the cards you BT from = 5K, 2K, 5K...Balance zero all 3 ( I don't have any CC higher than 15% util)

- how many card do you have and what's their balances and limits = 10 and my overall util is 13%

- what's your average age of accounts = 4 years

Fico 8 = 710 (exp)

Re: AMEX BT

I am a cautious fellow, but I wouldn't use AmEx for BTs or cash advances.

Especially if the relationship is new.

After you have been with them for some time, I think it is fine to use the "Plan It" feature, if given a no fee offer.
