AMEX Backdating CC w/ Prepaid Card?

I know it's a stretch.... a big one at that...

What if I were to get an AMEX prepaid reloadable card....

would that build a history with AMEX and allow for backdating in the future?

I would just call them and ask if getting a prepaid card establishes a member since date.  If it does, that probably answers your question re backdating.

johnecove, I don't think that's going to happen.  I think that the member date probably ties into an agreement to pay an annual fee, even if the first year is waived. 

I'm not familiar with the AMEX reloadable cards, but they probably don't have an annual fee...so, no "membership" is involved.

IMO, SOL on that one.

lol I'm just trying to find an "in" with AMEX once I'm done gardening so I won't take much of a ding with the AAOA.

I guess I'll just have my brother app for one of the cards since he's got good credit.

Does your prepaid card have a member since date on it?  I personally do not think its impossible.

That's what I would have assumed.  Are you talking about a reloadable gift card?  Like you would purchase at a supermarket?  They don't even have your information in their system for you to get one of those.

Definitely no way on that one.
