I don't know where the walmart thing came from but I use my Amex everywhere, and I mean everywhere. I use it for fast food, walmart, bills, etc. And Amex has done nothing but raise my limit time after time. I am 99.9% sure that someone had an issue with a lowered Amex credit limit and somehow attributed it to walmart and the rumor stuck.
