I also have the zync and want to upgrade in a year. what benefits does the green offer over the zync?

Re: AMEX Green

I'm almost sure the only difference is you get access to full MR points rather than express. Also MR points are transferable to frequent flyer programs. Is the $95 AF worth it? Only if you care about travel miles. Other than that there are no other apparent differences. Also after 13 months you can PC to green. If you really want green just wait. Don't get another HP just for a green card. I know this topic has been discussed numerous times on these forums so if I've missed something it might be helpful to do a search.

I have it and I love it. I'm saving up my MR points for a trip that I'm planning at the end of the year, so I'll see how well the MR points conversion to airline miles works out. In the meantime, I like the Amex twitter and facebook deals -- got a $10 statement credit for using the card at Cheesecake Factory, we're going out to Marcaroni Grill tomorrow night for another $10 statement credit, etc.; got a $25 statement credit last November for Small Business Saturday -- as well as the usual Amex perks.

Of course, if you want to switch to Green you could just continue to earn points for the full year with the $25 AF and then switch over to Green. When you switch, your Express MR points will convert over to full MR points. Other than the MR point difference, you still get the same perks that I mentioned above with your Zync. What's making you consider switching?

Re: AMEX Green

What else is good about the points system besides airline conversion? everything else seems not that great.

You can PC Zync to Green after 13 months of card membership. The full MR points are worth the same except they are transferrable to frequent airline programs. Will you really be using this? I just don't see the value in getting this card for the hefty AF and another HP. I would rather use my HPs for CLIs on my other cards. Again just my opinion. I think most people who have the Zync feel ashamed of the Zync and upgrade to Green just for prestige. I'm just not one to care about prestige.

Ive always heard that it's a soft pull for amex cardholders to apply for another card or CLI.
