AMEX Offer: 4,000 MR for $8,000 Spend, Up To 3x

On my Platinum Card, the offer is 4,000 MR for $8,000+ spend, up to three times.

If I were to spend $8,000 on my Freedom Unlimited (1.5x), I would garner 12,000 UR points or equal (8,000 MR + 4,000 MR) to the AMEX offer.

I’m not sure this is the offer for me, but it may be for someone else; so be on the look out. Those who book flights, hotels with AMEX, or have good additional AMEX offers may have a great opportunity for a few thousand points.

It may not only be on the Platinum Card because the offer also mentions the EveryDay Card. This offer, unfortunately for me, was only on the Platinum Card.

In order to see the offer the OP has, you would already have to have a Platinum, and be through the SUB stage.

Two different topics.

Of course , i understand that. Just putting it in my perspectiveSmiley Wink. I would think when you use an Amex MR earning card you would get 1 MR point for each dollar spent, no? If that were the case why would someone want to spend $8k for only 4k MR points? Maybe i just dont understand MRs but any correction or schooling would be appreciatedSmiley Happy

I just thought of it lol, it would be 8k points plus 4k additional? LolSmiley Wink

Amex has had some pretty screwy offers lately - I had an offer on my Everyday card initially saying "Spend $3,000 earn $3,000, up to 3x". I knew that couldn't be right, for starters Everyday doesn't give you cash back, only MR points. Sure enough in a few hours it was changed to "Spend $3,000 get 3,000 MR points, up to 3x". The standard rewards on Everyday is of course $1 = 1 MR and unlimited, so I thought the offer was a bit . . . underwhelming. Smiley Wink

Sort of. If you used your Platinum for airfare, you’d get 5 MR, and if you bought a Business Class ticket overseas for $8,000 you would get 40,000 MR plus 4,000 MR for the offer bonus.

if you have blue business plus that 16,000 MR for 8k spent. If i am understanding offer correctly if you maximize it to the fullest would that be for 24k spent you would get 12,000 MR. Am I misunderstanding the offer?

I get these types of offers all the time though, so there must be a glitch in the system. I don't know if they really differentiate between CB and MR anymore, just throw up offers.

I wouldn't be eligible fior this one as it's on the Platinum. Plus I don't spend $8K on a single card. lol

If it were half on say the Gold or ED, I could hit that. 99% of my offers are always seem to be at places I never heard of though, or at places I can use but don't align with my travel times. Smiley Sad

Re: AMEX Offer: 4,000 MR for $8,000 Spend, Up To 3x

You guys are thinking about it the wrong way. This offer basically means the plat is 3x MR on non-category spend, which is similar to what you’d got with the CFU with the SUB.
