Well, scrolling FT is fine, but I’m only interested in Delta Smiley Happy

And to clarify, the AMEX airline credit is for the one airline you select, not an opportunity you think of later with any airline.

Each airline has its own thread. There is a specific thread for Plat/PRG Delta credits since 2016. It has a wiki and 925 replies.

 

That said, not every single reply is a data point...but it provides some pretty reliable info.

Just to add 2 cents after being on the phone with an Amex rep today:  They confirmed also that if you select an airline initially, and a few months down the road you have not had any airline credit reimbursed, you can still change to a different airline. The moment the 1st credit is received for that airline, then you cannot change the airline again until the year is up.  I'll be trying the Southwest gift card purchase in a few weeks myself.

Changing your airline after the “open enrollment period” in January can be YMMV. Amex’s official policy is that once it has been chosen it cannot be changed, but you will usually find a CSR who will change it for you. If not HUCA.
