[I guess this could go in applications, in theory, and eventually it could turn into approvals, but I hope this is an okay place to post for now.]
How are PenFed and NASA FCUs on credit card APR reductions? I'm not expecting to start with the best APR on either (probably won't get the worst), and I know BT rates are separate... but I'm wondering how early/often they consider APR reductions?
Also, I think I saw someone saying Penfed would consider CLIs after 30 days, and that both may do pre-approved and/or auto CLIs after a certain amount of time and positive activity. Does that sound right?
I haven't bothered with PenFed. APR is already low and I don't carry. Initial CL they gave me is still my largest by a good margin and I spend $300 at most on it a month so it's never above 1% (no micromanagement needed). With PenFed, get the approval first. If you qualify for a CLI down the road you'll get one of the quarterly offers.
When I opened my accounts with PenFed I requested a cli on the Rewards card two weeks later. It was increased by 2k to 12k. When I wanted to use the score for a PLOC a couple of months later, they soft pulled and called me an Egyptian because of my new trade lines. I am just letting the accounts age now and see what happens.
Thanks all.
I got mid-range APRs from both (13-15%) so I may ask for APR reduction down the road after I've warmed the cards up.
NASA gave me my second-largest CL to start, so I'm not in a hurry to raise that, but PenFed gave a more conservative number (might still be Signature but has more room to grow in theory). Now to decide whether to go for the PenFed Travel Amex or just warm these up for a few months.
