Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, was not sure exactly where to put this.
I was reviewing my recent Equifax credit report and noticed a soft AR inquiry ("Inquiries with [this] prefix indicate a periodic review of your credit history by one of your creditors" ) from Household Bank on 2/24/2009.
I have no credit accounts with Household Bank - unless they are the parent/credit grantor company for:
Target
Best Buy (Beneficial National Bank is noted as the credit grantor for this acct)
Cap 1
Wells Fargo
GEMB/SAMS (although this account was closed 2 years ago, so the AR would still not be legit)
AT&T (I have a cell phone with them, never late or anything so doubt this is it)
Chase
Wells Fargo Student Loan
Amex (which was also closed a couple years back, perfect history)
Can anyone tell me if Household Bank is afilliated with any of these? If not, what does this soft mean??
Thanks for any advice or thoughts.
It's your Best Buy acct --
Beneficial aka Household aka HSBC
Hope that helps!
I know it gets confusing, but a lot of this is the result of banks acquiring other banks and other crazy stuff -- like MBNA/BofA/FIA and Chase/Bankone/FirstUSA, etc.
