Abercrombie & Target Approved - Walmart DENIED!

I began my credit rebuilding journey back in February of this year (2013) - all baddies on my credit files and NO open credit accounts.

Thanks to these forums I'm well on my way!! I got a ton of new accounts back in late February, early March 2013. Used and paid those faithfully - had to fight to get each new account based on my thin history. Got the baddies wiped off my credit files...

...and yesterday I finally felt like a real person!!! No recon, no nail biting, INSTANT APPROVALS for a new Abercrombie & Fitch store card and a Target card!! I'm thrilled and so thankful to these forums because it FELT SO GOOD TO GET AN INSTANT APPROVAL so early on into my credit rebuilding journey!!!

Yeah, on a side note, the one card I REALLY WANTED - the elusive Walmart store card (elusive for me) was DENIED. Recon on that and they wouldn't approve me. That makes it THREE TIMES I applied for this card (1 time in February, 1 time in March and now 1 time July).

Back in the garden and happy cuz 2 out of 3 ain't bad! Thanks again to all the people around here who stick around and give advice and make it possible for people like me to learn a few new tricks and better themselves!!

Re: Abercrombie & Target Approved - Walmart DENIED!

Not only am I running to the garden, I'm sprinting there!!

And I don't think I did anything to GECRB in a former life LOL ...many of my new cards are with them. That might be why GE didn't extend me the Walmart card - but they did give a few CLIs this month on other cards.

Except for two of the cards approved in March, I literally applied for most of my cards on the same day back in March. So they were all "approved" together and growing together. I don't know if this made a difference, but what I ended up doing almost immediately is USING THEM TO DEATH and PAYING THEM IN FULL EACH TIME. That was before statement cuts. I figured if there was a manual review, they'd see all the "new cards" but they would also see that they were being used heavily and PAID ON heavily.

I figured that would take "possible fraud" out of the equation and I figured using and paying on the cards often would take the question of whether or not I had the income to pay them off, etc.

So far it's worked and all the new accounts have remained and many of the new accounts have received automatic credit line increases (I NEVER use the "luv buttons"...NEVER).

...and yes, I'm surprised I was approved for the 2 new cards too! But pleasantly surprised!!

Next (and probably last) app spree: April 2014 - this is where I'll dump the sub-prime cards and replace them with cards I really want.
