And this card is off my list.

Alliant seems bound and determined to lose all its customers.
I've been a non-rewards platinum card holder for around 5 years, and used it primarily for no-fee balance transfers. Now they've added a balance transfer fee and raised their cash advance fee. Their interest rates were already much higher than my other credit union platinum cards. So the card has become worthless to me.
Now it seems they're going after their cash back card with the same idea in mind: losing all their customers. There are so many excellent cash back cards out there with no annual fee, why on earth would anyone pay a $99 annual fee for theirs?
Remember PT Barnum's comment: "there's a sucker born every minute"
Very true.... but remember, we are not talking about a bank. We're talking about a credit union that is supposed to protect the interests of its members. There aren't supposed to be suckers in the credit union environment.
$99 for an uncapped 2.5% is still pretty attractive in the broad scope of things - at least for people with significant spend.
BofA's 2.625% isn't generosity. It just reflects their expectation that they will do some cross-selling.
For us, a card that ceases to be the best at something may no longer be of interest. I've never wanted the Alliant card. But just because a card has been nerfed a bit doesn't mean it's suddenly intended for suckers. For people with high off-category spend who don't travel and maybe don't want to deal with BofA, it's still a pretty good value.
*As far as comparisons to no-AF 2% cards...that extra 0.5% is still worth it with enough spend!
Another one bites the dust. Atleast they did not bother to cover it up with increased "perks" that help offset the fee!

We’ve moved nearly 100% of our spend here. Only dining goes to Uber for 4% & gas to Sams MC 5%. It’s well worth the AF for our spend after 1st year, but we are still in the no AF zone. It’s tough juggling a bunch of cards and trying to keep reward earnings straight. So much easier with just 3.
Just make sure your spend is more than $20K on the card. If not, a 2% card would be equally simple and earn you more.
Yeah, I'm going to axe this card when my AF hits. It was good while it lasted. Unique Credit Union perks seem to have a shelf life.
Still, the Amex BBP no annual fee gives me 2.5% cash back with my CS Platinum, so I was using that card as my go to non-category anyway. Only small bummer is that the Alliant was a superb overseas card with no FT fees and more acceptance than Amex has abroad. It was I think the optimal international CC before they raised the AF.
