I just tried logging in and couldn't. Said they were still setting up my account but suggested I check on status of app. When I did that I then saw the CL. It is $2K. I'm quite pleased with that... now the question arises... do I app spree? ~kn

You'd have a decent shot at AMEX Green if backdating is important to you...but they will likely pull all 3 of your reports.  I apped in October with 6 months history and was approved, but they HP'd all 3 bureaus.

What's this backdating you speak of? I keep seeing mention of it but figured it didn't apply to me.

Now is a very good time to apply for your first Amex. I actually recommend the Gold Skymiles over the Green. The former offers a sign-up bonus, and will help your total credit limit to top it off.

They backdate your new account to your very first Amex acc. Let's said if you have one Amex CC in 2001. Then decided to apps another of their product today then your acc got backdate member since 2001. 11 years history.

I think you should get Discover. I got approved at 675. one of my buddie approved for 640 Fico score so i guess you should be fine.

Make sure you paid your CC uitli less than 9% before you hit for a new apps.

Re: Am I ready for Discover More?

Thanks. I got the Discover. Approved for $2K. But then I might've screwed up. Drunk with excitement from being approved I went a mini app spree. NO instant approvals but both Amazon Rewards by Chase and Sears by Citi said that the app needed "further review" and that they'd let me know in like 7-10 days or something like that. I've got my fingers crossed but either way, no more apps for the forseeable future.

Re: Am I ready for Discover More?

Yeah it was 0% apr for 15 months I believe. Which is nice because I might float a balance on it for 2-3 months.
