AmEx SPG Personal & Biz - Applying on Same Day

After waiting 60 days to lapse since my last HP (Ink Plus 60k), I applied for both the personal and business versions of the SPG today. The personal SPG was instantly approved with a limit of $25k. After submitting the application for the business SPG a few minutes later, I received the following message:

The AmEx phone rep was very friendly and explained how they put double applications on hold, asked a couple of basic questions, and then approved me for $10k and, unprompted, offered to expedite the card so that it would arrive in 2-3 business days. I asked if I could also expedite the personal SPG, but no dice and I don't need it that fast anyway so didn't push.

I'll report back when I see how the inquiries hit my CR; I expect to get 2 HPs, but maybe I'll get lucky.

Just wanted to share my experience for those considering double AmEx SPG apps before the 30k offer expires on September 3rd.

For a limited time, yes. I believe it expires 09/03/13.

Yes. The 30k offer expires on September 3rd. My understanding is that you have to be APPROVED for the card by that date in order to get the bonus. It's not like with the Chase Ink Bold.Plus 60k where you would still get the bonus as long as you applied before the cutoff.

So, I would recommend that anyone considering a double app to apply ASAP, no later than this coming Monday, since double apps are sometimes forced into a 5 day waiting period.

My understanding is that you can't get the bonus on the same AmEx card if you've have had it open in the last 12 months. You also can't get a bonus on a charge card if you've had ANY AmEx charge card open in the previous 90 days. SPG isn't a charge card though.
