AmEx pre-approvals...

Like several people here, I've been seeing the "You're pre-approved for the Plum Card!" banner for the past few days on AmEx account overview page.  Today, I was looking through their other card offerings and I also got a "You're pre-approved!" button on the Platinum Card page.

Not believing it, I called CS and it turns out I am not pre-approved for Platinum.

YMMV, but I wanted to share this with anyone else who might have gotten butterflies at the prospect of carrying a grey gladiator.
