Wow..interesting..GEMB gave me $800 CareCredit, but then again my credit profile is the polar opposite of yours: Lots of good history, but a BIG baddie (BK7 2009). I have no idea if they would approve me with my scores and profile.
Here's the thing about inquiries...if you have ulta low util, pay on time, and have a nice mix of good credit, I really don't think they hinder you terribly. Usually when denials include inquiries as a reason they have another baddie attached
I think my util is 12%, actually - so it's not as high as I thought. It was supposed to be 3%, but since I changed the billing date on a Cap One card, the statement got pushed back another 30 days so that won't update until December. And I had an interest charge sneak in on another card so it wasn't a 0 balance update either.
I think, realistically, after you get enough inquiries it probably stops hurting you more. I mean once you're at 10+, they probably don't care if you have 11 or 15, either way you have a lot.
Since they approved me for this, I'm tempted to apply for the Walmart card so I can get the TU updates. And sometimes, rarely, I guess I do shop at Walmart anyway.

Ooh...I have the Wal-Mart card...with the store card you can get up to $60 cash back with no additional fee in addition to the free TU FICO...it's a good product.
after reading this, i went to amazon and applied for the card.... surprisingly i was approved for $700 ^_^ i have good luck with GEMB.
anyone know if later on is it possible they'd change it to the visa card?

Their Visa card is issued through Chase. You would have to reapply when your ready.

Yep, this is correct. Store card is GE, Visa is Chase. Since it's Chase and it's a Visa card, it has higher requirements. When I applied and was denied and tried to recon, they weren't helpful at all. Sounds like either I had bad luck, or the requirements are pretty strict.

I just got this card today and didn't see anything about $60 cash back. It looks like the Walmart Discover card w/give you 1%, but not the store card. I'm curious how to get the $60 back. Do tell. ![]()

If you have the Walmart store card, you are eligible to get up to $60 cash back at the registers limit once per day. It will count as a purchase on your statement not a cash advance.
Oh! I get it. I thought that it was like rewards.
But it's like cash back at the grocery store. Only you're saying that it wouldn't be a cash advance; it would be a regular charge. Good to know. Though w/ a meager $300 CL, can't see using it. ![]()
