Amazon Prime Store Card Statement Credit Allocation

I have a deferred interest purchase ending this July 2nd, a 12 month equal financing purchase and some non promotional 5% cashback purchases on my Store Card account. The woman at Synchrony didn't have this info but since I have $39.69 in rewards and I apply it as statement credit what type of balance does it go towards - the deferred interestor non promotional? I have my payment allocation settings set to the Standard Allocation out of the 3 available so I'm assuming it would credit the same way correct? Hopefully someone knows.

Don't know about that, but I've heard if you're one day late or one dollar short, they'll hit you for the entire deferred interest at a huge rate!

Ps, id pay it right away. I'd pay $0.99 extra, just to be sure. Let them figure how to refund it to you.

I happen to like and appreciate Synchrony, but I understand they are not forgiving.

I would suggest not worrying at the moment about the $39.69 in rewards. Save them for next month after the 12 month deferred interest charge is completely cleared. Don't need the rewards fouling up the works and having Big Tony send Vinny after you for being a day late or a dollar short.

Make SURE to make what ever payments are necessary to clear the deferred interest charge. Even if that means paying in full every $1 on that card to a zero balance.

Personally I would have considered the 12 month deferred interest as an 11 month and had that paid at the end of last month.

Edit: And maybe I missed something in your post, but I think my opinion doesn't change.

This +1,000

Make no mistake about it: Their computer is sitting there waiting for your deferred interest promo to be unpaid one minute past the date so they can sock you with that piled up interest.

I once paid off one of those 24 month monsters a week before it was due. I called the day before the promo expired to confirm all was well.

The rep confirmed that no interest would be assessed, but spoke to me like I had spit on his porch. I'm not kidding here. He was openly hostile about the fact that Synch had basically floated me credit for two years, interest free.

That's their right. They're in the making money off credit business, but I find their particular business model distasteful, to say the least.

In my wallet: Local Credit Union $25,000, Northwest Bank VISA $25,000, AMEX BCP $15,000

So far, sync hasn't shafted the op, so we don't have to debate what exactly the suck, lol.

Re: Amazon Prime Store Card Statement Credit Allocation

Looking at my recent card activity and promotional purchase balances doing simple math, I can tell that the $41.79 rewards I applied yesterday deducted from my non-promotional purchases rather than the deferred interest payment which is strange as I thought it would be the same as the settings, but now I know.

Re: Amazon Prime Store Card Statement Credit Allocation

They're trying, but you caught them! I'd pay the entire account to zero, or a little less. Go negative on them.
