Amazon cli denied.....strange reason **UPDATE**

My 4 months came up on my GE accounts so I requested my increases via online. I got an increase on walmart and sams but they turned me down for amazon. This is what my letter said:

We are not able to assign the credit line you requested (3500.00) because it exceeds the increase our policy allows.

Your credit line as of the date of this letter is 2500.00

I was getting this same response last year when I was trying to increase the limit and I had the same limit as you. Finally in November I rang and asked the customer serivice representative what it meant. She said she couldn't help me with that, but would transfer me to an underwriter if I wanted. This was before the discovery of their telephone number so I was pretty shocked to get transferred so rapidly. In less than three minutes the lady upped it to 5,000 with no question. I was so shocked I went through the same process in about one month and was quickly approved for 10,000.

It seems that perhaps each store has a certain limit that you can get through the system, because I got the same with Dillard's when I reached 10,000. I even asked a Dillard's credit supervisor who said the max for the card was 10,000. However, an underwriter can override the system and set the limit to something more.

just call credit solutions and ask for a much higher CLI... They can manual review... When computer says no, talk to human... When human says yes... Ask computer too!

This letter is from the online request. I called in a few days later and spoke with a human. They said they saw that I was denied online a few days before but would request it manually. Then he said no. I guess I should wait for that letter before I call again?

you call customer service or credit solutions?

customer service does basically the same form request you do... solutions can pull a SP on spot and do a review.

@navigate..did you have other ge cards at the time? I have 4 with them and there is always an issue with one. It used to be old navy..now it's apparently amazon.

@creditaddict......I called the backdoor number in the sticky. I guess I will wait and call again in a few weeks. I don't know if it will hurt me to ask again since I got shot down twice last week.

No, I didn't. I had had it for about two years when I asked for the increase and it had been about one year since the last increase.

I got my second letter in and it stated the same thing about a high limit of 2500.00. So I called the credit solutions numbers a few minutes ago and told them I knew the letter was not correct because I have friends with higher limits and they increased my limit from 2,500 to 5,000 with no problem!! Thanks for the help and tips to get past that limit!
