Whats funny is I have had an amex card since 05, But when I got the platinum card it said "member since 13" I lose my wallet 3 months ago and had to order a new platinum card and it automatcily changed it to member since 05.

Two points:

1:  Am I the only one with this problem?  When I logon AMEX site and click on each of my card it says MEMBER SINCE 1995.  But on the actual card itself the image on one of the card still says 2011.  I made a second request for the correction yesterday and was told everything would be fixed.  Is it really a problem or just some system error?

2:    With our new MSD now we can all start our chat or phone conversations with AMEX with, "Hi John/Mary/Patel, I've been a member of Amex since 19xx, I have an issue I hope you can take care of for me."    Talk about a change in how we can be treated.

That's a stock image.  Didn't you notice the name and account numbers weren't yours, either?

Yes thanks for confirming.

Yes, I realized the name and account number weren't mine but had thought the membership date  was a  populated variable.  Like I said if the other two cards didn't have 95 on them I would not bat an eye on the issue.

Now we know.

I just applied for my own Amex and got approved last night (BCE, $1k). I was an AU on my mom's account in 2009 and her card was opened in 2003. I went online this morning and asked for the adjustment. She saw the original card was opened in 2003 and she filed to have that as my date. She said their team will look over it and I'll have a new card in 9-13 days. We'll see what date they give me..

On your credit report AU tradeline does it say acct. open date 2003 or 2009?

Re: Amex Backdating Success

I now am successfully backdated to 1987 thanks to this thread. I have backdated before and requested new cards, it took a week for the backdate to hit the website and a fair amount of time for the new cards to arrive by standard mail. After this backdate I am totally done, I requested no new cards, only requested the new member since date for a new Gold Card in case I applied. Well cut to 24 hours later when I receive emails about UPS NEXT DAY AIR from american express. I think they might have noticed I got the CSP which was also UPS NEXT DAY AIR-ed to me, and are trying to compete! Pretty badass to specifically not ask for new cards but to have them auto next day aired to me. I don't know if it's because of the account age, my report, randomness, anything. I can't complain. I've already set my family on the course and had my sister approved for amex, telling them it will serve them VERY well.

Edit: Although, I had to SPECIFICALLY request the CSP be 'expidited' for me when approved. I made no request from amex, not even for new cards. They expidited new cards with just a new 'member since' date without request. I love them.

AMEX service is so great I feel almost guilty for having requested a second set of correction cards today.  Just received email confirmation this morning that three more cards have shipped overnight UPSy.

This is the kind of service that keeps customers with AMEX for life.

Thank you, this was helpful. I was able to figure it out once I got off of my mobile.

I logged into my Amex account today and my MSD is now 2007. I turned 15 that year so I'd say it's a pretty good start and should help my AAoA nicely. I'm not sure where they got that date, but I'll take it over 2014 any day! I'm glad I stumbled acorss this thread! Unfortunately, I tried both yesterday and today to get my new card expedited and they said they couldn't do it (even though it hasn't shipped yet). They also said they couldn't expedited the upcoming card with the corrected MSD either. Oh well...
