Amex Blue Sky

Quick question:
You redeem 7,500 points for a $100 statement credit. These are supposed to be travel expenses. Can you go on and redeem the statement credit at any time? How does Amex know if you are redeeming towards a travel expense?

Thanks.

Re: Amex Blue Sky

It is not a blind statement credit. You have to use the card and have a charge appear (with proper coding), then request a statement credit up to $100 against that charge. So if you use the card to rent a car, once that charge posts to your account, you ask for a statement credit. But you can't just request a statement credit randomly and the charge has to be properly coded (see your T&C).
