Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever asked for more than 3X their current CL on an Amex after the first 61 days? If so, what were the results?
EDIT: Added the word "more."

Yes. Started with 2K on BCP. Asked for 6K. Instant approval.
Thanks, I actually meant asked for more than the 3X limit. Sorry, I've just edited my question.

In that case, I didn't ask for more than 3X.
Thats a good question!! I dont think I recall anyone here going for over 3x
I thought 3X was the max you could ask.
And depending on which card, I think you can only get up to 25,000 on some cards (Maybe BCE?).
Yes I have the BCE and the highest you can go without a hard limit is 25k. Right now I have a 1k CL on the BCE (really sucks)! I'm going to go for the 3X increase to 3K. Still low as I use this card the most. I would like at least 5K, but I don't think AMEX will allow it so I wont even bother. Just wanted to know if anyone magically pulled off a CLI >3X the current CL.
Maybe not. ![]()

So the BCE card has an upper limit CL of $25k? Interesting, but not disappointing for me as $25k is my target CL.
What do you mean by 'hard limit' though? It's possible to get a higher CL than $25k with one?

Are you being serious when you say you have a Target Red Store card with $25,000 limit?
When people talk about hitting $25k, it seems about 95% of people that were close to $25k or at $25k and have asked to go over most have been denied. I have seen a few people say they were auto increased over that but for the most part no... but the weird Amex thing is most have had no issues turning around and applying and being approved for another "Revolving" Credit Card with American Express.
I guess that's why when people need to charge very large amounts consistantly they are getting Amex Charge Cards!.
I do know my father started wtih Optima in 2000 and had $25k within a year and was denied increase over that but had no issues getting another credit Card at $10k. And back when you use to be able to move credit lines around online and request increases online... I forget the exact order but I would open new account, move Credit Line from older account and then get increase on older account or something, so basically getting new account and increase, oh and don't forget backdating!
