Amex Cardmember Pre-approvals/Prequalified Offers

Actually the concept is very simple.  If you are a current cardholder and log'ed in, when you click any card, almost all of them show pre-qualified.  But when you try to apply it, often time you get denied.

I tried this on almost all of the cards.  All show pre-approved.  Since I already opened two cards over the past 30-day, I do not think I can get approved for the 3rd card.

Just do not trust the pre-approval.

I applied for my Delta Gold on the Delta website and was approved. But then saw the preapprovals for other cards, applied and was denied.

Correct.  It is the trap.
