Got an email from Amex on Business Platinum that cell phone coverage is being added next month. Looks like it will be for all Centurion, Platinum, Delta Reserve, and Delta Platinum cards - personal and business, including brokerage cobranded Platinum cards.
Scooped by DoC by 11 minutes. 😂
"When comparing it to other cell phone credit card benefits, the $800 is higher than the standard $600 limit found on most cards, though lower than the $1,000 Citi Prestige benefit."

Don't world elites (that offer it that is) also have $800? My REI card has that.
Visa Signature, Visa Infinite, World MasterCard, and World Elite MasterCard benefits always depend on what an individual card issuer actually offers for their card. But yes, your REI card does have $800. The quote was from the DoC article.

Yes, just pointing out that DoC isn't quite right! The linked article from DoC (table of cards offering protection) is very out of date as shown in the comments (including someone pointing at the REI card today!)
No coverage for lost phones.
No coverage for "damage that does not impact the Eligible Cellular Wireless Telephone’s ability to make or receive phone calls" (e.g. certain cracked screens).
Maybe they'll be more flexible in practice, but this has the same major limitations of most CC phone benefits.

Looks like both Amex and Mastercard have the same issuer, New Hampshire Insurance Company, an AIG company
This is the second month in a row Amex has announced new benefits for a subset of cards on the first day of the month. In February, it was the co-brand credits.
Would be great if the monthly buffs continue, but the size and scope are smaller this month, so maybe they're done.
$800 coverage is included on the no fee world elite Chase Freedom Elite card...
Thanks for the heads up K, this is some good timing. The Delta Platinum Business just got a $15/month credit for paying your cell phone bill. Now you can also get cell phone coverage along with the credit.
I've only ever seen two companies provide the Cell Phone insurance benefit. One is this AIG company that Amex is now using which is also used by Mastercard and the other is Asurion that is on Visa cards. The two policies read almost exactly the same with the same stuff being excluded, just limits/deductibles are different depending on the card.
Asurion bought the cell phone repair chain store UbreakIfix in 2019 so they insure the phone and also perform the repair service through a subsidiary for all the Visa cards.
There are some differences from normal phone insurance plans that cost ~$9/month. Those are usually primary insurance and they will cover stuff like disappearance and say something about providing a new/equal phone when making a claim. So the ones provided by credit cards are pretty basic whereas provider plans are usually better coverage with guarantees for providing a working phone.
