Hi Guys,
I have a Platinum card and was wondering if Amex allows you to pay certain charges over time?
The option is in my account but it says 0.00 next to it. Do you need to call and request this feature?

Don't attempt to use that feature unless you seriously want to risk account closure.
That option is akin to BofA's CLI button during the initial credit crunch. It's just there to identify those that need/want to borrow more but might not necessarily be showing any indication of this desire on their reports when they get softed. Requesting use of this feature will identify you as someone who is struggling to get the bills paid, regardless of whether or not you actually are.
Seriously, don't do it.
It does seem like a trap...any reports on how amex reacted to your use of this revolving option? Perhaps most know to avoid it already... but can't think of any reports indicating use of this feature on an amex charge product either with or w/o AA in return.
I agree, don't do it.....I did this a few years back and carried a balance for 4 months on a large purchase and my account was closed!
They just offered me 50K MR Points by enrolling the Extended Payment Option for Amex Premier Rewards Gold on the website. I accepted the offer. By the way, I already have Select and Pay later on my account. I wanted it because of 50K MR Points. I'm not going to use it. My brother used it a couple of years ago and it caused his other accounts CLD.
Ron.
I believe they have a feature (or did) called Sign and Travel.
Although I have to agree with posters on here. With the Credit situation in the current economic situation, I would just apply for a revolving card.

Thank you everyone for your replies.
I figured AMEX will frown upon that feature so I won't do it.
Thanks,
UM

Isn't Amex still reporting a separate TL on CRs for revolving charges made on charge cards?
