I received my Platinum card last December. I signed up during their typical 60,000 bonus point campaign - I'm nearly 100% positive it was 60k points. COVID-19 slowed my spending real bad and received notice that Amex extended their SUB time limit from 3 mos to 6 mos. I needed to spend $5k by June 6th or so. Anyway, this week, I made my SUB, but was shocked to see the bonus they deposited: 125k points! I can't find an email or anything that indicated a higher SUBs during the COVID-19 response. Has anyone else experienced this?
Not me. Got my 2 newest in January and I got the normal sub. I wish they would have doubled. That'd be 2 first class tickets for my upcoming trip.

Happy Amex day to you!! Not even sure where that SUB was ever posted. The most I've seen is 100k bonus. Congrats!!
That's amazing!
I've never had that big of a bank error in my favor, but I have seen Amex make a handful of mistakes over the years. Usually they catch and fix them within a month or two. (I get the impression they have a pretty active internal auditing system, but it doesn't look back farther than that.) I can't remember anything big going un-resolved for longer than, maybe... 6 months?
If you want closure and don't mind potentially alerting them to the error (or if you have a super guilty conscience) you could use their live chat to ask what your SUB was supposed to be. I did that recently on a card where I simply couldn't remember. The CSR told me they don't document those anywhere the customer can see (sketchy!) so the only way to know is to ask them. Simply saying "I forgot" shouldn't raise any red flags.
Good luck! Hope you get to keep all those points!
Now that's a nice surprise. More than double what you were expecting. Guess Amex was feeling generous.
Pretty sweet! Much better than been shorted. My friend got a 125k/$5k Platinum SUB offer in late November last year, so those do exist in the wild.
From D.O.C. in Jan 2020: Targeted 125K
Take it and run!!!!
I had the 125k offer one time in my AMEX prequal tool but didn't take it.
If you truly don't think you signed up under those terms, I would check with chat. Amex is not shy about taking back things that you "shouldn't" have, whether it's from abuse or in this case, just mistake. So honestly, I wouldn't redeem the points unless you confirm you are actually supposed to have them.
Nice SUB
