Amex Platinum Airline Credit for United

Hey guys,

In a bit of a pickle here. I realized 2017 is coming to a close and I still have about $36 left on the Amex Platinum airline credit, which for me right now is United. I chose it because I had this one patch during the year when I had quite a few United flights, but clearly I wasn't able to use up all of it. I checked FlyerTalk and the main suggestion there was to add to a TravelBank registry - but the TravelBank is down on the United site right now! Any suggestions on how to use this up? I know $36 isn't *that* much...but hey I'm trying to use every cent!

Not sure if that will be before Jan 1, 2018. It appears that it's down indefinitely. It's not that the website itself is down - it's that the registry feature simply has been removed entirely

If it helps ease the pain, I forgot to change my airline in January and failed to use my United credit for 2017 on my PRG so I'm losing all $100.

K - have you tried calling Plat CS to see if you can change it now? Maybe they will be nice...   SW is always a good choice for GC..

NFCU $60.4k/PenFed $22.5k/Commerce $15K/53 $11K/Synovus $14K/BBT $11K/CapOne $12K/DCU $7.5K/BMO $7.5K/Chase $14.5k/Cabelas $10K/ and many many more!
Total CL $398600, plus car and RV loan.
Ooh. Ooh. Getting closer to that $500K mark!

I hadn't thought of calling to get them to make an exception.  That's a good tip.  I had both set to Southwest before but since I knew I was taking a United flight last year I changed my PRG since I didn't want my in-flight bar tab to be too high. Smiley Wink  I believe my PRG will get its 16th annual fee when my statement closes tonight and I was planning to call retention this week and possibly part ways with what was my daily driver for its first 13 years or so.  I'll mention it as one of the reasons why I'm considering breaking up.  (The real reason, of course, is that my Platinum and SPG combo are completely unbeatable for transfers to the reward program that I prefer and with the exception of any bonus spending offers there is zero reason for me to use the card.)
