I recently booked $5000 worth of travel for the next few months so I went ahead and app'd for Amex Platinum for travel benefits - especially airport lounge access.
I got the pending further review message and called next day. The regular CSR aren't helpful and just read a script. So I called the executive office and they did a manual review for me.
APPROVED! They are expediting it to me also for my upcoming US Open trip this Saturday.
THANKS to this forum for all of the advice! Never thought I would get an Amex at the age of 21 but now I have 3!!! (Amex Zync, Gold PRG, and Platinum)
Other info:
They pulled Transunion - Score was 640-650 due to high utilization (booked trips)
No negative marks on my report or anything - payments ALL on time
Congratulations! Welcome to the Amex family, and have a safe and enjoyable trip.
Congrats! Make sure to link it to a facebook or twitter account with Link > Like > Love to get $10 back on any $20 purchase at the US Open.
Congrats! The Platinum is an awesome card for those who can take advantage of its benefits.
Congrats!!! Curious though...what's your reasoning for having all three (Zync, PRG + Plat)?

Good question!
Zync - It was to get in with Amex first
Gold PRG - This card gets you the most MR points from what I heard and that is true with my spending. I spent a lot of airfare, gas and groceries!
Platinum - I wanted this card for the benefits such as airport lounge access and the no foreign transaction fee. I have a feeling no foreign transaction fee will be VERY useful when I am overseas for the entire winter!
That said, I think I am going to cancel Zync soon now that I have the perfect Amex combo for me. What do you guys think? Should I cancel the Zync?
CONGRATS!!! It's a good day over at AMEX.
congrats!
Sweet! Have fun at the Open
