I am awaiting reinstatement of my card and it has been 3 weeks since they approved the reinstatement, maybe more. Does it usually take this long?
That seems quite long, give them a call and see what's going on.
When I call them they just keep saying it is in process and I will receive the card first week of June. I need to call a special number to even get that info. When I call the regular number they don't seem to know what I am talking about. I just hope they don't change their mine. They sent me 2 letters confirming this but still- it's not over until my card is back....

Did you close your card or did Amex. If the later how did you get them to reinstate.
Maybe I can shed some light on this. When I retired my the navy last year, I was expected to go right back into the workforce. NOT!!! I kept AMEX in the loop to let them know that, my income has dropped significantly, and that I was not able to pay my bill in full. Yes, I know it is a charged card, and I hated to be in this situation. Well, fast forward to January this year, AMEX refer my account to an attorney and it was fortunante that I was able to gain employment, for the sole purpose of paying off my AMEX account: $14,500.
The good news: the attorney expressed to me that, AMEX want to retain me as a card member.
Once my account is paid off (paying $1200 a month) in December, I will get a letter from AMEX re-instating me within 30-45 days. I keep the same account number, and it will be my platinium card. However, I am going to downgrade to a PRG. I dont traveled as much as I used to when I was in the navy.
Hope this help!!!!

It's good to hear that Amex will work with folks and reinstate card membership.
