Amex Pre-Approvals

Hello All,

This is my first post but I've been here for a while and have learned a great deal of info.  January 2018 my FICO8 scores were all low 520's.  Fast forward exactly 1 year later and as of today FICO8 score are EX:682, EQ:678 and TU: 680.

I currently have had the Amex Zync since 2011.  I checked out some Amex cards today and there are a few that say "You are pre-approved" when I click on apply now, some others do not give this message but invites me to apply.  This leads to my questions:

Will there be a hard pull or will they use the current score I get via my account on a monthly basis or do a SP?

How often do the Amex pre-approved messages lead to an actual approval?

I asked an Amex rep today and she could not verify if they do a HP or SP...

Thanks!

Most likely SP, but you should always expect HP and celebrate when you dont get one.

Re: Amex Pre-Approvals

I've managed to get my inquries down to 1 and my utilization to 1% so I was trying to avoid a hard pull unless I was confident I would get approved.  I'll keep debating on it.  Thanks!

Amex pre approvals are pretty solid. Go for it

Re: Amex Pre-Approvals

YMMV but if you already have an Amex account, in my experience, any card I have added has only been a SP, and I have a 100% record of getting the card I was applying for when I have seen the pre-approved message.

Welcome to My Fico!!!   000welcome17.gif

As posted by others most commonly, with a second Amex that's preapproved, it's a SP.

Re: Amex Pre-Approvals

Only apply for the one that you will use and will benefit you. Don’t pay an AF on a card that won’t benefit you )all your pre-approvals have AF except for the Delta Blue.) If you don’t travel, pass on the travel cards.

Other than that, it’s up to you.
