Amex Upgrade BCE to BCP offer

Hi everyone. I have a quick question. Today when I logged in to my BCE amex account, I noticed an offer (in the amex offers and benefits list) to upgrade my BCE to the BCP. If I chose to od so would that be a hard inquiry? Also is the AF charged right away to the card or at the end of the first year?

Regarding AF, normally not waived but I do not know the details of offer you got.

There are 250 sign up bonus offers if you really want BCP - use incognito or IE and search BCP

This is what it says on my offer about the annual fee. 

"Annual Membership Fee: Approximately 45 days after your account is upgraded, you will be charged a prorated Annual Membership Fee for your new Card based on the time remaining until your next account anniversary date. You will also receive a prorated refund for any annual fee paid on your previous Card."

no HP everything remains the same. AF charge in a 1 month. or 2.

I believe if you upgrade you dont get the bonus normally associated with that card. Hopefully if im wrong someone will correct me

My targeted offer comes with a cash back bonus, but I'm not sure about others.

You don't get the sign up bonus but you also don't take hits for HP, adding a new account and possibly closing the old, decision depends on what is more important to you and your situation.  I'm contemplating upgrading my 4 months old BCE to BCP, I have added 6 new personal accounts since April causing 8+ years of AAoA to drop to 3 and 820's score to 780's, I'm trying to get back up to 800's before a possible car purchase next year so adding another new account is not an option for me.

If you wait it out, an upgrade offer will probably appear. A few weeks after first getting an offer to upgrade my BCE to BCP, I got an offer of $150 for $1000 spend. I had heard it was possible and was glad I waited. My AF came out about a month and a half later. It was prorated, so it was less than $95.

I did got the offer too but to be honest, although I rather not move from a non annual fee to a annual fee card at this particular time.
