I was a member of Amex since 2006. In 2020, I was laid off from my job and went through a divorce at the same time. I became deliquent and eventually my Amex (along with about 6 other cards) was charged off in September of 2020. I eventually arranged a settlement agreement with them, and satisified the settlement agreement in February 2022. I did not PIF. I still owe them about $1300. Fast forward to 2024 after I've cleaned up my credit profile substantially, I received an offer from them in the mail. I checked their preapproval feature, and it said that I was preapproved. I applied and was approved for the Amex Gold Card. I've been using the Amex Gold for the past 3 months and pay in full every Friday without issue. My credit scores are 688, 693, 691 with 5 charge-offs from 2020 still showing on my report, although they all have $0 balance now.
My question is that my Amex Gold Card shows member since 2024. My previous Blue Cash card had me as a member since '06. I can still log into my old account and see the outstanding balance that was left over after the settlement agreement. Is there any reason to "stir the pot" if you will, and ask them about reinstating my status of member since 2006? Will it possibly draw attention to that old account if they overlooked it somehow and risk getting the new one closed? Should I consider myself lucky that I got back in with Amex so soon and just leave it alone?
Thanks!
Leave it alone . It's just a year on the card .
It's as if you have some sort of split file they're looking at. I think you somehow slipped through the cracks on the approval. I'd leave it alone.
DON'T POKE THE BEAR.
I hate to agree with everyone else. But I agree with everyone else.
Let it be.
