Okay guys so I have two amex cards and am looking into getting the spg soon however how do I know if amex has soft pulled me recently or not because I don't need another hard inquiry? I pay for my experian report but when I look at inquires I don't see anywhere if it started whether or not the inquiry is hard or soft pull.. Sorry if this a dumb question but in just not sure. Thanks guys
If you have the report directly from Experian, you'll see 'Requests Viewed Only By You'. If you do not see this section, you are not looking at a report directly from Experian but from their CMS.
Current Amex customers will have a hp if approved for a new cc and a sp if denied. There have been some instances where current Amex cardholders receive a hp no matter what -YMMV.

So if I get approved its a hard pull no matter what? How is it possible for them to choose whether or not if it's soft pull if it denied so fast
Yes, it's a hp if approved. They use your most recent sp to see if you are 'likely' to be approved. The hp is then used to verify no changes since the sp
