Amex member date and open date reporting explained

Check this out- I just got off the phone with Amex credit reporting-

I should have waited until Jan to open my Green-
How come I did not know this?

I opened my Delta in Jun 07 - Reports June 07
I opened my Green in Dec 07 - Reports Dec 07
Opened my Blue cash Jan 08 - she says it will report an open date of Jan 07

So I gave up a whole year of history by not waiting a week on my Green.

They report Month opened and Year of Member date

So Open your AMEX cards in January !!!!!!!!!!

That's pretty cool.  I'd agree, open your Amex accounts in January, IF you're already a cardholder.  If you're a new cardholder, do it in December so your Member Since date already looks a year old only one month later. Smiley Very Happy

Re: Amex member date and open date reporting explained

This is interesting! I opened my first Amex card (in my name), Blue, in 12/06...lucky me. I have been trying to get Amex to report both my Blue and Gold cards as opened in 11/79, this is because I have an AU account reporting opened in 1979. No dice with Amex though.

Re: Amex member date and open date reporting explained

My Blue Cash posted to EQ this AM (Yeah EQ when did they start reporting quick?) along with my updated statement balance from my Green-

As AMEX told me- Open date on the Blue Cash 1/1/2007
Pretty sweet if you ask me to get a free year of age-

I guess this won't show up in "accounts opened in a year" either-

Is there an amex number that goes directly to a credit reporting representative rather than a typical customner sefvie representative.  MY TL has not updated since JAN. (Account is closed, but does not show PIF and closed on CRs)

800-874-2717 Amex credit reporting
You MUST have a copy of your credit report with the full account number listed on the Credit report.
