Amex questions - 2 to be exact

I had amex charge off in 1991 - about 1k never paid. I applied a couple of times the last few years and was declined. Last week I approved for Blue card . They gave me a low max compared to my other cards. My card says member since 2012 but my online profile says since 1991.

1)Has anyone confirmed for sure that the online member since date is what is reported to credit agencies ?? This will obviously help my AAof A immesenly ?

2) Just got my card today when can I ask for CLI ? can I do it online ? how often can I ask for CLI ? HP or SP ?

You can ask for a CLI in 60 days.

I would not call them and rock the boat just yet.  Wait until the card shows up on your CR and see what it says then

Yes, the year of the online member since date is what will will show on your credit report in Date Opened for this account.

I had an Amex CO back in 1991, never paid. 20 years later, they sent me an offer to apply for a new Green card. To my astonishment, I was approved. The card came with the 2011 member since date, but the online system said member since 1987. The online date was what was reported to the CRAs, giving me a nice boost to my AAoA. Everything that I've heard, and my own experiences bears out, that they go by the member since date shown on your online profile.

If ou don't have active card, often times the card fulfillment doesn't pick up member date. Personally I like to get a card with right member date just in case for future proof of member date if needed.

OP i had the exact issue as you !!!! Even down to date of '91.

If the online date says 91 your CR will say 91

initial CLI 61 days after that 6mo

The online date always = reported to Credit Bureaus is not always true.  I had to have them fix it for my wife.  I think like 98% of the time, it is true, but even if it is not, you can call them to have it fixed.

Was that your experience that your members since date is what showed on your credit report? If so, that's fantastic as I was approved for an American Express Zync card in the month of May and when I log in to the account it says thank you for being a member since 1999. This should help my Average age of accounts

Yes ~ the Date Opened for your account will reflect the Year of your AMEX member since date, and the month that you opened the account.    So in your case, your Zync will show a date opened of May 1999.
