Re: Amex "Earn a Higher Credit Line"

Huh?  The Cardmember Agreement, which is the contractual agreement between you and Amex that you recieved by  mail, says nothing about Credit Line increases.

It's like saying just because you hit the minimum spend and fulfilled all the requirements we won't give you the sign up bonus because it's up to us.

I think a big name like Amex should be on top of those things.

@patoot10, I've moved your questions/issue to a new thread to give it more exposure.

Re: Amex "Earn a Higher Credit Line"

I am not sure why you are on steps program with Amex as you have good scores and 4 cards with them. What am I missing?

Anyway if you got an increase in last 6 months with Amex you can't get another one. But you can move limits among your cards.

^^

That only applies to manual increases where you get one every 180 days.

Automatic increases have no clock and don't overlap with manual increases.

Re: Amex "Earn a Higher Credit Line"

But doesn't explain why you are on a steps program. I don't see a reason to make waves. Also they consider you cards all being one account. Maybe since you got a cli they figure they gave you your increase early.

Remember, don't believe everything you read.  Everything is at Amex's discretion.

Re: Amex "Earn a Higher Credit Line"

DH was sent this offer for his BCE. He followed the rules to a T and received a $500 increase a few days after his 6th statement cut. It definitely didn’t come the day after as expected...hopefully yours will hit soon.

Also- read the T&C carefully- you had to carry a balance each statement...plus some other rules.

Re: Amex "Earn a Higher Credit Line"

From what I’ve read about this program.

You must let a statement balance post every month at statement cut and report that balance to your credit report.

Have you ever not had a statement balance when the statement cut ?
Have you made on time payments ?
Any major derog’s recently ?

Amex does not have to give you a CLI. Yes I agree they should if you followed the program exactly to a T but again they don’t have to.

As another member said. I would be asking why you are on Amex credit steps if you have several other Amex cards ?
That’s really unusual normally as each approval for further cards normally give a bigger credit limit especially with Amex.

Re: Amex "Earn a Higher Credit Line"

Read the fine print. They promise a credit line increase "by the end of the sixth month after your first payment." So take the date of your first payment, add six months, then the CLI should be in effect by the end of the calendar month in which that date falls. I suppose there are other ways to interpret it, but none of them involve the statement date, which seems to be what you are focusing on.

Re: Amex "Earn a Higher Credit Line"

Rule "e" clearly says that you cannot have already recieved an credit line increase.   As somebody else mentioned, Amex treats all accounts as one, and if you HAVE recieved an increase on your BCE, you MIGHT have torpedoed yourself.

As for Customer Service not knowing about the program, THAT is something to be irritated about.  Somebody should be able to tell you if you qualified, at least, even if they can't tell you when you'll get the increase.
