Re: Amex reporting

You can't backdate AU on their report.

You only get the backdated member since date on cards that are in your name.

So if they open an AMEX of their own, it would report 2003.

If you open an AMEX of your own, it would report 2004.

But if you add them as an AU to yours, or they add you as an AU to theirs, it's going to report 2013.

Re: Amex reporting

Yeah, they don't do that anymore, they report the AU as of the date they were added, not based on their member date or your member date.

Re: Amex reporting

I sent them an email just to confirm my information I gave you was correct:

The Member Since date will be from the time [they apply] for [their] own Card.

If [they open their] own American Express Card 5 years from now, [their] Member Since date will be 2018.

Sincerely,

So regardless if you add them as an AU, whenever they go to open their own card (if they've never had one in their name before), their Member Since date will be when they get their own first card. So basically, an AU on an AMEX doesn't give them any benefit over being an AU on any other card.
