DCU is great for us common folks.

For the high flyers not so much since they are no NCUA insured. But then again that's part of the reason they can offer such great services as products.

According to this: https://www.dcu.org/personal_banking/checking_menu-index.html Their deposit products are ncua insured. Its likely that you probably read a statement regarding investment products; which are usually not gauranteed or insured.

@zyzzus

It's been so long since i joined but I remember reading that you can donate to an organization at the same time applying for membership. Something like $10?

Re: Any CU or Bank like DCU

Yea when I joined I paid $5 or $10 to join some organization and that was in September. But based on what I've been reading lately, they are having many issues with approving memberships. It seems as if the new accounts department are either very slow at approving memberships (like taking weeks) or deny membership even when the supporting ID docs requested are submitted.

I can say that when I joined there were absolutely no issues at all. They were very responsive and I had all documents and CC within a week of joining. With that being said I would suggest confirming your membership before applying for one of their CC's if that was your intention as well as early DD. And yes early DD is a great perk if you can make it past their crazy membership maze.

Major CC's - Barclay's ($5.5K) | Barclay's Sallie Mae MC ($5K) | DCU ($7.5K) | Discover IT ($1.4K) | Genisys Visa ($1.4K) | NFCU Visa ($22K) | Navcheck ($15K) | Chase Freedom ($5K) | SDFCU Visa ($8K) | Amex BCP ($9.5K) | Amex Delta ($10K) |Store CC's| -Amazon ($4K) | Catherines ($850) | JCP ($4K) | Macy's ($1.7K) | Avenue ($850) | Victoria's Secret ($1.4K) | Walmart ($4.1K) | Paypal SC ($1.3K) | HSN ($2.5) | Sears ($2.6K) | Sams Club ($4.1K) |Goal|: Age with grace to 750 across the board |Last app|: 3/3/2014
