Anyone else can't...

...decide which cards to use when you are out shopping/running errands???

I find myself shuffling through the cards in my wallet trying to decide which card to use while the cashier is scanning! I sometimes go through all of my cards before I make up my mind! This is what happens when you have too many rewards cards lol  Smiley Very Happy

Re: Anyone else can't...

I've created a spreadsheet for reference.

And sometimes it complicated by short term rewards such as $100 for $500 spent in 3 months.

I give my wife simple instructions, keep her to 3 cards tops, and rotate them out as needed

FICO EX 827, 2015 Feb; FICO EQ 836/900 (Citi), 2014 Dec; FICO TU08 818, 2015 Feb.

BofA Cash Rwrds Sig V 2013 10k; Fidelity Rewards AmEx /BofA 2013 15.4k; Chase Freedom Sig V 2002 24.1k; Chase Amazon Rwrds Sig V 2011 8k; Sam's Club MC 2002 10k; Dscvr It 2012 10k; Citi Dvdnd Plat Sel V 2013 8.9k; PenFed Plat Rwrds V 2013 20k; AmEx Blue Sky 2013 11.3k; AmEx BCP 2014 24.1k; Priceline Rwrds Sig V 2013 8.7k; PayPal Xtras GE Cap Plat MC 2012 5k

Re: Anyone else can't...

Yeah, the set categories are the easy ones since I can plan around it. Its the "everything else" that is harder since I am thinking about my current balance on the card, the closing date, etc while I am standing in line. I guess I should just rotate them and be done with it lol

Re: Anyone else can't...

One method I used was to add my old lady, and brat (college bound) as AU's on my less favorite cards, as to keep them in motion.

Re: Anyone else can't...

I shop at krogers for groceries..always use my bcp. 6% back. Kroger then gives me .20 a gallon off of gas from thier rewards thing, so i go to the gas station and cant remeber for the life of me who has the gas rewards that month....thats when i shuffle through my bcp, discover, chase, hmmmmm

Re: Anyone else can't...

I usually make up my mind every month on which cards to use for what, and mostly follow it.

Re: Anyone else can't...

I'm always running the statement cut dates though my mind when I'm in the checkout line.  I don't want to have something report a balance that I'm not expecting! Smiley Very Happy
