Anyone have any issues with travel right after opening AMEX?

Hi all, I was approved for a BCP the sunday before Memorial Day. I went into the app to notify of my travel from 6/7-6/10 and the messaging said no need to notify them in advance. I still don't have the new card and unless it comes in the mail tomorrow likely wont have it till monday. Since I leave the same week I would activate the new card should I call in and tell anyway? Anyone any experience with a similar situation? Thanks in advance

If it makes you feel more secure about using it, no harm in notifying them. However, I don’t see it being a problem unless your charges are questionable.

Amex stopped accepting travel notifications years back.  Completely.  You should have zero problems, though.  I've never had a declined charge from Amex.

Re: Anyone have any issues with travel right after opening AMEX?

Hopefully you are travelling domestically or else you will have trouble with AMEX. Don't the Blue cards have 2.7% FTF?
I don't remember all the nuances of the now-probably-more attractive BCP design but I think 6% grocery is intact with streaming being the new "major" category and then instead of 3% dept. Stores its 3% transit or something....right?
Does that category have broad travel definitions?
I'm guessing it's designed more for commuting than actual travel so hopefully your situation is more about coincidence/timing more so than the strategy of getting a card before a trip in order take advantage of bonus categories.....

Got it in the mail today! Ya im just going from Chicago to Salt Lake so shouldnt be a huge problem.

@slowbutsure
Ya the app was more because I was looking to open it anyway and the timing just lined up with my trip. Plus I got the 300 back for 1k spend to pop and I didnt wanna let that pass haha so app away I did. Got 2k SL

@slowbutsure
To answer the other part of your question ya the new 3% catagory is for commuting type things "uber/lyft parking, train tickets ect"
The 3% dept stores has been gone for awhile I believe and the new 6% catagory is streaming services. Theres no true travel perks. 6% groccery 3% gas are still there as well
