Hi all -
Looking to add some credit cards to my wallet and increase available credit. Ideally, I'd get a cash rewards card (thinking AMEX BCE), a travel card (Chase Sapphire Prefered), and start a history with AMEX.
Score per myfico (EQ) is 687. Utilization 4%. Good income. Inquiries within last year are EQ-0, TU-1, EX-0. AAoA 4 years. 4 late accounts, 3 are student loan late payments from 2007/2008 (two falling off Mar 2014), and 1 is a Citi card that will fall off TU/EX in May 2014 (not on EQ).
Current Cards: Cap One Quicksilver (3500), CU Secured Card (1000), Care Credit/GECRB (500). No lates on these.
Should I hold off until May when 2-3 negative accounts are off my report or should I go ahead and app? Do I have a realistic shot at BCE/CSP (I think I may be OK with recon) or would I be better off going for PRG/Delta Gold, USAA, Freedom, Citi Thank You? I'd also be OK getting a decent CLI from Cap One, but I received an automated increase four months ago.
